Resurrection Life
Romans 6:4
"Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."
The resurrection of Jesus changes the believer's present life. Paul explains that those united with Christ have died to sin's former rule and are called to walk in newness of life. The old master no longer has the rightful claim. Christ's death and resurrection are accomplished facts; by faith, we now learn to live in agreement with what He has done. Grace therefore gives us a new way to walk rather than permission to remain captive.
Paul asks believers to consider themselves dead to sin and alive to God through Jesus Christ (Romans 6:11). This is a deliberate act of faith grounded in union with Him. Temptation may still speak, and old patterns may take time to unlearn. Yet we can refuse to present our bodies as instruments of unrighteousness and instead offer ourselves to God. The Holy Spirit empowers this new obedience. Our struggle is real, but our identity is rooted in the risen Lord rather than in the habits that once ruled us.
Choose one area where you have been saying, “This is simply how I am.” Compare that statement with what Scripture says about your life in Christ. Confess the sin or pattern plainly. Remove an easy opportunity for it to repeat, seek help where needed, and practice the corresponding act of righteousness. Replace a cruel word with a truthful and gracious one; replace secrecy with accountability. Resurrection life is lived as we respond to God's grace in the decisions of today.
