John 10:10

John 10:10

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

Jesus spoke these words as the Good Shepherd who knows His sheep and lays down His life for them. The abundant life He gives is rooted in belonging to Him. It cannot be measured simply by possessions, comfort, or public success. A person can own much and remain empty within. Christ gives the life of fellowship with God: forgiveness, a new heart, His abiding presence, and the hope of eternal life. These riches become the foundation from which we live each ordinary day.

The thief's work is destructive, but the Shepherd's care restores and leads. We must learn to recognize the difference. A voice that invites you to dishonesty, resentment, or secret sin is drawing you away from the life Jesus gives. His voice calls you into truth, even when obedience requires a costly change. In the same chapter, Jesus says His sheep hear His voice and follow Him (John 10:27). Receiving abundant life includes learning to follow the One who supplies it. His grace empowers a life of love, holiness, and fruitful service.

Examine what has been consuming your attention. Has comparison made you overlook God's gifts? Has a destructive habit been stealing time, peace, or fellowship? Bring that area under the Shepherd's care. Turn from what harms your walk with Him and make room for what nourishes it. Open His Word, attend to the people He has entrusted to you, and use your abilities to serve. You do not have to postpone meaningful living until every circumstance improves. The life of Christ is available to shape your choices today.
