Ephesians 2:6

Ephesians 2:6

"And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus."

Paul describes what God has done for those united with Christ: He made us alive with Him, raised us with Him, and seated us with Him. We did not climb into this position by spiritual performance. “By grace ye are saved” appears in the same passage (Ephesians 2:5, 8). The believer's security and authority flow from the risen Jesus, who is seated above every principality and power (Ephesians 1:20–23). We belong to Him and can approach the Father with confidence.

This position calls for a different way of living. Later Paul tells the church to stand against the schemes of the devil, putting on truth, righteousness, faith, and the Word of God, while praying at all times (Ephesians 6:10–18). Kingdom authority is exercised in dependence upon Christ. It is never a license for arrogance, control over people, or careless confrontation. The enemy may accuse and tempt, but believers can resist as those who have been joined to the victorious Lord. We stand firmly because His grace holds us.

Where have you been acting as though fear has the highest authority in your life? Bring that place before God. Recall your union with Christ, then answer the fear with Scripture and take an obedient step. Speak truth instead of hiding, resist a temptation instead of bargaining with it, and pray rather than surrendering to panic. Your place in Christ gives you confidence to stand; His character teaches you how to use that confidence with humility and love.
