2 Corinthians 3:18
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."
Restoration in Christ reaches deeper than recovering what was lost. God is forming His people into the likeness of His Son. Paul says this transformation happens as we behold the Lord's glory with an unveiled face. Through Jesus, we are brought near to God and invited to see His character clearly. The Holy Spirit works within us so that the mercy, holiness, and love we see in Christ increasingly shape who we become.
This growth does not require pretending that a wound never happened. The Lord can meet us in what was broken and renew our thinking, desires, and conduct. Paul contrasts the fading glory associated with Moses' ministry with the enduring glory of the Spirit's ministry. In Christ, the veil is removed and we are free to turn toward the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:16–17). The Spirit's transforming work is real, though it may unfold through repeated choices to forgive, obey, seek wise help, and remain in God's Word. Restoration has direction: toward Christlikeness.
Look at one area where disappointment has changed how you see yourself or others. Bring it honestly to the Lord and ask Him to show you Christ more clearly there. Perhaps you need to release an old accusation, accept correction, or begin a faithful habit again. Take the next step the Spirit is making clear. You do not have to reproduce the person you were before the hurt. God is able to make you more like Jesus as you continue to behold Him.
