Covenant Blessing
Updated October 24, 2026
Galatians 3:14
"That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."
Paul identifies the astonishing center of covenant blessing: through Jesus Christ, people from the nations are welcomed into the blessing promised to Abraham and receive the promised Spirit by faith. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by bearing it for us (Galatians 3:13). Our place in this promise rests upon His sacrifice, not our family background or our ability to keep a flawless record. The Father has opened His covenant mercy to all who belong to His Son.
The blessing reaches beyond what we can hold in our hands. The Holy Spirit brings us into fellowship with God and enables us to live as His children. He bears fruit in our character, assures us that we belong to Christ, and helps us walk in the freedom Jesus purchased. We may confidently ask our Father for daily provision, but we should let Scripture define the covenant's central gift. God gave His Son and His Spirit; He calls us to trust Him with our whole lives and to extend His blessing to others.
When you feel like an outsider, return to this truth. In Christ, you are received by grace through faith. Thank the Father for His Spirit and ask how you can live as someone who carries His blessing into the world. Share with a person in need, welcome someone who has been excluded, or speak the gospel without favoritism. Covenant blessing is received with gratitude and expressed in love. You belong to the God who keeps His word and gathers people from every nation into His family.
